Prof. Sampa Saha

A polymer scientist, teacher and consultant, Dr, Sampa Saha is the Associate Professor of Department of Material Science and Engineering at IIT, Delhi. An alumnus of Calcutta University (B.Tech) and IIT Kharagpur (Rubber Technology Centre, M.Tech), she received Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from Michigan State University, USA under the guidance of Professor Gregory L. Baker. After a brief stay at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, as Postdoctoral Research Associate under Professor Joerg Lahann, she moved to Singapore to join as a Research Scientist, BASF South East Asia Pvt. Ltd. After gaining industrial research experience from BASF & Prochem, Singapore she joined as Research Fellow at School of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Since 2015, she started working as Assistant Professor at IIT Delhi. Recently she became editorial advisory board member of Journal of Macromolecular Science,Part A. Her research area spans from biodegradable polymeric particles (multi-layered and multi-compartmental) to polymer brushes. She emphasizes on multi-disciplinary approach to solve problems and hence believes in strong collaborative efforts.

Our group works on

  • Multi-compartmental biodegradable polymeric particles for drug delivery

  • Biodegradable multi-layered polymeric particles for packaging applications

  • Surface modification with polymer brushes

  • Nano fibrillated cellulose for agricultural and biomedical applications
